Business Unit Leader, AI Education and Talent Development
Division: Chief Technology Office Reports to: Chief Technology Officer Type: Full-time Location: Arlington VA
The role
PhoenixTeam is the exclusive generative AI education partner to the Mortgage Bankers Association and the team this industry turns to when it needs to learn AI fast and use it well. We're hiring a Business Unit Leader to own and grow AI Education and Talent Development inside the Chief Technology Office.
This is a builder's role. You own the business, the revenue, and the outcomes — for our clients, for the industry, and for our own people. You take deep mortgage and AI expertise and turn it into education that changes how people work.
What you'll own
You lead the full education and talent portfolio and its P&L:
- Mortgage Bankers Association public courses
- Educational and executive alignment workshops
- Speaking engagements
- Development coaching
- Immersive and applied learning
- Online learning and educational series
- Educational merchandise
- Workforce and talent development
- Product- and domain-specific training
How you win
We win three ways. So does this role.
- Be the best. Set the standard for AI education in mortgage — content that is rigorous, current, and unmatched.
- Be the fastest. Ship. Move from idea to in-market faster than anyone expects, and faster than anyone can copy.
- Deliver what clients desperately need. Hear the urgency in the market and build the exact thing that solves it.
And one rule above all: you win by collaborating. This role does not succeed alone. You operate alongside your peers within the center of the Chief Technology Office and share outcomes across the division — your wins are shared wins.
What you'll do
- Build the business. Own strategy, pricing, revenue, and margin for the education and talent portfolio. Hit your targets.
- Deliver the MBA partnership. Design and ship public courses, certifications, and examiner and regulator training that lead the market.
- Scale our reach. Put AI education in front of thousands of mortgage practitioners through online series, workshops, coaching, and applied learning.
- Build the bench. Recruit, develop, and lead instructors and coaches — including the AI Futures program.
- Collaborate to win. Partner across AI Services, AI Products (Phoenix Burst), Human Futures, Operations, Brand and Marketing, and Events so education accelerates adoption — and adoption feeds the next thing we teach.
- Be the voice. Represent PhoenixTeam on stage and with clients as a credible authority on AI in mortgage.
- Stay current. Keep content ahead of a fast-moving AI and regulatory landscape.
How we'll measure success
- Revenue and margin growth against target
- Practitioners educated, certified, and changed — at scale
- Client outcomes, renewals, and expansion
- Speed from idea to in-market offering
- Cross-division wins: education that visibly drives Services and Products outcomes
What you bring
- Proven business-line or P&L leadership — you've built and grown something, not just run it
- A track record in education, training, L&D, or professional services
- Strong command of AI and generative AI, and a genuine drive to teach it; mortgage industry experience is a strong plus
- A bias to ship — fast, and at high quality
- Excellent communication and presence; credible in front of executives and on stage
- A natural collaborator who builds trust across teams and makes everyone around them better
- Comfort operating in a fast-changing, high-ambiguity environment
Who you are
- You care about people and about doing work that matters in an AI-everywhere world
- You're a builder and a finisher
- You lead with generosity — you share credit, lift the team, and connect the dots across the organization
- You're relentlessly current and relentlessly useful
