POSITION SUMMARY
Kraken Kinetics is seeking an Engineering Configuration Management Specialist to coordinate and administer the release, control, and maintenance of engineering documentation throughout product development, production, and sustainment.
This role will serve as the coordinator for engineering releases, engineering change orders (ECOs), and product configuration management, ensuring that technical documentation is complete, properly reviewed, formally approved, and maintained as a controlled product baseline.
The position will play an important role in implementing and maturing Kraken's engineering release and configuration management processes, with Arena PLM serving as the primary system for managing released engineering information.
We are looking for a detail-oriented, process-minded individual who is comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day activities while helping establish practical, scalable workflows. This is a hands-on position that requires strong organizational skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively across engineering and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the preparation, review, approval, formal release, and archival of engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, firmware releases, specifications, test procedures, and related technical records.
Help establish, standardize, and improve engineering release, document control, and configuration management practices as the organization grows.
Assemble and administer engineering release packages, verifying completeness of documentation, revision consistency, and required approvals before formal release.
Administer engineering change request (ECR) and engineering change order (ECO) workflows, including change documentation, review coordination, approval routing, and formal closure.
Work with responsible engineers to ensure affected technical documentation is appropriately updated and released following approved engineering changes.
Maintain accurate, traceable product configurations, including relationships between part numbers, revisions, BOMs, firmware versions, and supporting documentation.
Track provisional or limited production releases, coordinating outstanding documentation requirements and closure activities with responsible stakeholders.
Maintain controlled engineering records and administer release and change management activities within Arena PLM.
Coordinate the communication and handoff of released engineering information to Operations, Production, Supply Chain, and other downstream stakeholders.
Identify documentation gaps, configuration discrepancies, incomplete change records, and process breakdowns, coordinating resolution or escalation as appropriate.
Support technical review, change review, and engineering approval processes.
Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to improve the accuracy and flow of engineering information into downstream business systems, including NetSuite ERP.
Coach engineers and operations associates on how the various procedures work and advise them as to which procedures are applicable to the current task.

Ability to read and navigate engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other technical documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and other functional teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Teams.
Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and ability to identify and resolve documentation or process gaps.
Experience working effectively with engineering management and senior engineers on change control and configuration processes.
Ability to work effectively in a growing organization with evolving tools, processes, and priorities.
