At Bounce we’re on a mission to make people’s journeys lighter, because we believe nobody should have to plan their day around their stuff.
We started with the largest luggage storage network on the planet: 35,000+ local businesses across 100+ countries, where travelers drop their bags and get on with their day. Now we’re going further, with luggage delivery and our own 24/7 lockers. Our goal is for “bounce it” to be the first thing people say when they arrive in a new city.
We’re a small, nimble team across Lisbon, San Francisco, and Tokyo. We move fast, test ideas early, and change course when the data tells us to. If you want to make travel lighter for everyone, come build it with us.
We were named the fastest-growing travel company in the US on the 2024 Inc 5000, and we’re backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, including a16z, General Catalyst, and 359 Capital.
You'll join Bounce as a Product Engineer in our Lisbon office. This role will play a pivotal part in crafting new products atop our platform and expanding the efficacy of the Bounce marketplace.
As a Product Engineer, you will take ownership of real-world customer problems, crafting intelligent and efficient solutions across both backend and frontend. You will have the opportunity to own projects in various areas, such as our consumer apps, growth engines, and partner tools.
We are looking for a generalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys owning a feature from concept to completion, contributing across the entire technology stack.
Our ultimate goal is to build a large-scale, shared technology platform that supports various products capable of rapid iteration and exploration.
We build for our customers and partners first. Technology is how we get there, not the goal.
We work in 1-week cycles, and most projects fit into one or two of them. Each project has one owner, but the whole team pitches in. You'll always need input along the way, and we expect you to ask for it.
This role is for you if you enjoy every part of building software, not just writing code. As a small team, we rely on people who can take a feature from idea to production. You won't be handed a queue of tickets. You'll help shape what we build and why.
Our stack is Elixir, React Native/Expo, React, Next.js, and TypeScript, and AI is part of how we build every day.
Collaborate with global teams to support new product innovations and business initiatives, continuously exploring new ventures from both an engineering and product standpoint.
Write high-quality code for our mobile and web applications.
Assume strong ownership of products and services, and continuously improve and maintain existing code and architecture.
Work in a fast-paced environment and shoulder the responsibility and commitment of the production environment.
Work with Elixir, React Native, Expo, React, NextJS, and Typescript, and introduce other technologies when beneficial.
Bring a passion for staying on top of industry trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, and participating in internal and external technology communities.
4+ years of relevant experience developing and shipping code for production systems
Effectively integrates AI tools into daily operations to enhance productivity, while staying current with advancements in AI in software development practices.
Generalist that strives for velocity and loves owning a feature from start to finish by contributing across the stack.
Proficient coding skills in one or more of the following - Javascript, Typescript, Elixir, or Ruby.
Experience with frontend frameworks and technologies, including but not limited to React, React Native, Javascript, CSS, etc.
Proven experience in building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit/integration testing techniques.
Commitment to creating an exceptional end-user experience, with attention to the smallest details that can elevate their interaction with our platform.
Current knowledge of relevant technologies and an ability to implement them effectively.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
You're confident in leveraging AI tooling to elevate your productivity.

Velocity is priority #1. The faster we ship, the faster we learn. One day sooner compounds.
Be experiment-driven. Small hypotheses, small scopes, fast learning.
Freedom with responsibility. You have the freedom to act, and we trust you to do what's best for Bounce.
Own the outcome. Commit to the outcome, not the task.
Think at scale. A small improvement shipped globally can beat a big one in a single city.
Be scrappy. There are no experts, it's just us. If something needs doing, we figure it out.
Strive for feedback. Care personally, challenge directly, and make feedback a habit.
Relationships matter. We genuinely care about the people we work with. We build community, not just collaborate.
