Our Story
4DMedical is a cutting-edge medical technology company specialising in advanced diagnostic imaging solutions that are revolutionising respiratory healthcare. We are an ASX200 company with a global footprint and several products cleared by the FDA and other international jurisdictions.
Our innovative technology draws on measurement science and a deep understanding of physiological processes, and provides actionable insights into lung function, enabling early detection and precise treatment of respiratory conditions. Complementing our approach, we also develop sophisticated AI-driven lung imaging analysis of lung and cardiovascular structure to enhance the accuracy and depth of diagnostic information. Together, these technologies deliver a comprehensive suite of tools for personalised respiratory care.
Our team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of medical science to enhance patient outcomes and drive the future of healthcare. Join us at 4DMedical and be part of a vibrant, forward-thinking company committed to making a significant impact on global health through technological excellence and innovation.
Our vision is a world in which people with lung disease have better health outcomes. We are the future of lung imaging.
As a Senior Research Engineer, you will join a tight-knit team investigating and evaluating new image processing techniques. You will be responsible for designing and evaluating, using scientific principles, the underlying methods used in our novel lung motion investigation software. The Research team leads the early stages of product development including concept generation and building and testing prototypes, as well as supporting 4DMedical’s commercial software development, clinical studies, and hardware R&D projects.
We seek to hire people with a variety of different skillsets. While your ability to autonomously undertake high quality research autonomously is important, we strongly value your ability to share your knowledge, thereby ensuring an environment in which all team members grow and develop together. As a more senior member of the team, you will help guide junior researchers and deliver robust, innovative solutions for team projects.
Who are you?
You’ll embrace our goal of developing leading technologies to provide better health outcomes to patients. We are looking for creative researchers from a range of backgrounds, including engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science and data analytics, who can bring their unique skillsets to our lung imaging technologies.
We expect that you’ll have a postgraduate degree in engineering research or science, with 3+ years of additional experience (postdoc, industry, PhD + 2 years or Masters + 4years) in a field that can be related to image-based measurement - for example, traditional or deep-learning image processing techniques, Particle Image Velocimetry or related flow measurement methods, computer vision, and signal processing. You’ll be a highly capable programmer, with the ability to translate research ideas into prototypes to be tested scientifically.
If you have experience in 3D reconstruction techniques and X-ray imaging that’s great, and if not, we are happy to bring you up to speed.
Experience in, or an understanding of, lung or cardiac physiology or medicine would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
Interstate applicants will be considered; however, you will need to be willing to relocate to Melbourne.
