About the Role
Join Franklin Water Treatment as a Territory Sales Manager - Commercial & Industrial
Location: Remote - candidates located in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois preferred
Travel: Approximately 65%-80% within the assigned territory
At Franklin Water Treatment, we do more than sell solutions - we help improve lives by delivering clean, safe water to the communities and businesses we serve.
As Territory Sales Manager for Commercial & Industrial Water Treatment, you will drive growth across an assigned region by developing customer relationships, expanding key accounts, and helping customers select the right treatment systems for complex water-quality challenges.
This role blends technical water-treatment knowledge with strategic business development. You will work with professional Commercial & Industrial customers, engineers, mechanical contractors, general contractors, and other decision makers from the early specification stage through the final sale.
If you are a relationship-driven sales professional who can move confidently from a water-chemistry discussion to a bid and specification conversation, we encourage you to apply.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Grow the Region: Develop and carry out sales strategies that support territory growth goals.
- Build Customer Relationships: Expand existing accounts and turn qualified prospects into long-term customers.
- Sell Technical Solutions: Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate water-treatment systems.
- Manage Bids and Specifications: Support projects from specification through award and help keep Franklin Electric solutions included in project requirements.
- Negotiate Business: Participate in pricing, purchasing agreements, and contract negotiations.
- Represent the Business: Attend customer meetings, trade shows, seminars, and other industry events.
- Manage Your Territory: Maintain accurate CRM activity and travel approximately 65% to 80% within the region.
WHO WE WANT
- A Strategic Seller: You can translate market opportunity into a focused territory plan and consistently move opportunities forward.
- A Technical Problem Solver: You are comfortable discussing water chemistry, treatment processes, system design considerations, and performance expectations with technical customers.
- A Relationship Builder: You earn trust with customers, engineers, contractors, and internal partners and sustain those relationships over time.
- A Clear Communicator: You can explain technical information in a practical way, respond confidently to questions, and present effectively in one-on-one and small-group settings.
- A Self-Directed Professional: You organize your territory, priorities, travel, and follow-up with minimal day-to-day oversight.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Relevant Experience: Five to seven years of experience in industrial capital-equipment sales, product management, or a related field, with water-treatment experience required.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in business, business management, marketing, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Water Chemistry Knowledge: A working understanding of ion exchange, pH, alkalinity, hardness, chemical reactions in treatment processes, accurate chemical dosing, and water-quality troubleshooting.
- Filtration and Membrane Technologies: Experience sizing and applying media and carbon filtration, reverse osmosis, and other membrane systems used to remove impurities.
- Automation and Pumps: Knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems and automation used to monitor and control treatment systems, along with familiarity with booster pump systems and related controls.
- Bid and Specification Experience: Experience bidding publicly and privately funded projects and selling directly to mechanical contractors and/or general contractors.
- Business Systems: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CRM software.
